Creativity and Perseverance
I recently came across a few uplifting and affirming words from the a few of authors and poets who inspired my love of writing and the Speculative Fiction genres. Today, I thought I’d share some of them with you.
Isaac Asimov
“I write for the same reason I breathe – because if I didn’t, I would die.”
“You must keep sending work out; you must never let a manuscript do nothing but eat its head off in a drawer. You send that work out again and again, while you’re working on another one. If you have talent, you will receive some measure of success but only if you persist.”
Ray Bradbury
“Love. Fall in love and stay in love. Write only what you love, and love what you write. The key word is love. You have to get up in the morning and write something you love, something to live for.”
Anne McCaffrey
“A good story is a good story no matter who wrote it.”
Gene Roddenberry
“Time is the fire in which we burn.”
Anais Nin
“If you do not breathe through writing, if you do not cry out in writing, or sing in writing, then don’t write, because our culture has no use for it.”
Maya Angelou
“The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart.”
Claude McKay
“If a man is not faithful to his own individuality, he cannot be loyal to anything.”
Tonya R. Moore
Small Fish. Big Universe.
I love to write. I love the flexibility and weight of words and the infinite possibilities and magic that can be wrought by just the right combination of them.
